“Conceived as an improvising string quartet, The NOISE are emerging more and more as a real-time composing collective, such is the conceptual and structural unity of their improvisations." SYDNEY MORNING HERALD
Excerpt from album PDF booklet:
The NOISE is an unusual string quartet in that improvisation is at the core of its creative process. All the pieces on Stream were created as live improvised single takes in the studio. Although technology has of course played its part in piecing together these improvisations, in the end its interference in our musical process has been deliberately kept to a minimum. All the pieces that form Part 1 of the album (excluding the Prelude) were formed using simple overdubs. This involved creating a bed layer and then playing along to these bed layers, using them as material to spark off our creative energies!
"No one may trust the night
That plucks response from things lodged deep in the mind...
And now, as a cloud topples from the moon like a leach,
The seaway eases and flakes into brilliant caves,
A gully of pearl loops out on the distant beach,
And oars of silver lick at the turning waves,
Midnight stuns the air ... "
